James contacted us one week before he and Gemma were due to get married to see if we were available to play at his wedding! Luckily we were and were more than happy to play for the couple!
After a lovely chat with James we found out that James was hiring us as a surprise for his lovely bride! and wanted us to play for their early evening reception. We planned to set up in the evening reception room at The Moat House in Staffordshire, play our first set acoustically as the bride and groom and guests had coffee’s and then move into the reception room and play a more upbeat set as evening guests arrived.
When we arrived at the venue we found out that James had also booked a Robbie Williams tribute as a surprise for the evening too! (as Gemma loved Robbie!) so we set up in the evening reception room and got ready to play acoustically downstairs. We also bumped into our great friend Cris Lowis Photography who was James and Gemma’s photographer.
as time went on the Moat House staff and groom decided they would all move back to the room instead, and we are always happy to change our plans last minute to suit what works best so we stayed in the room and played some laid back acoustic songs, we started with Marry You by Bruno Mars, our version of this song is a little up beat so works great as an opening song and a lovely one for a surprise!
Gemma walked into the room and looked completely shocked as we started playing! and had a lovely sing along to our songs, we played our first set quite laid back and the guests enjoyed drinks and evening guests arrived.
We then started our second set with Ben Howards “Only Love” James had asked us to play this after their first dance as the couple wanted it as an alternative first dance song! it worked perfectly and has such lovely lyrics for a first dance song.
We then followed with some more Upbeat songs as the guests enjoyed their buffet and came to have a dance with us!
We ended on Mercy! and packed up ready for Robbie to come and entertain the crowd!
Gemma & James left us some lovely feedback which you can find on our testimonials page.
Congratulations to the lovely Bride & Groom Gemma & James we loved playing for you!
