We (Replay Acoustic) were delighted to be asked by Wendy & Dave to play at their wedding, we had been recommended by their friend who had seen us at a wedding in 2013. They came to see us at Granville’s Brasserie in Stone at a wedding fayre and after watching us play and having a chat they decided to book us for their ceremony, drinks reception & wedding breakfast.
We arrived at Goldstone Hall Hotel in Staffordshire bright and early to set up for their ceremony, they had decided to get married outside in Goldstone’s beautiful gardens, unfortunately it was raining but Goldstone had a great open barn where you can get married under cover while looking at the beautiful gardens. It was lovely to have a chat with Dave as we were setting up, all plans had been changed because of the rain but the staff at Goldstone had done a great job of organising everything without a hitch.
Luckily the rain stopped just in time for the guests arriving and we started our set as they took their seats in the ceremony, Dave & Wendy had given us a list of songs they wanted us to play during the day but asked us to choose the order of them, so we started with some soft romantic songs to set the mood. For Wend’s aisle song she asked for “At Last” a beautiful choice and really suited her walk through the gardens down to they ceremony, she looked absolutely wonderful and we played the song right to the end just to give the couple a few minutes to catch their breathe before the ceremony started!
After the the exchanging of vows we decided to play “Got The Love” by Florence and the Machine, it’s got a great up tempo feel about it and gave a great atmosphere, everyone seemed to enjoy it as they gave us a round of applause after. Dave & Wend asked for us to learn Rudimental’s “Feel The Love” for their exit song, it’s got a great feel to it and really suited them so worked brilliantly.
As the rain had stopped the Drinks Reception carried on outside, we moved our speakers more in view for the guests and started with a selection of upbeat and laid back songs as the guest’s had drinks and their photographer (Nicola Gough) took some photos of them.
Unfortunately the rain started again and the Drinks Reception got caught short and we all moved inside, Me and Dan made a dash with our equipment we this time set up in the Wedding Breakfast room. Dave & Wend had speeches first, where Dave’s son gave a very brilliant & emotional speech! (nearly had me in tears!) and we started again with some relaxed music while the guest’s dined. The couple and their guests were a great bunch and we had many singing along while we played which was great and added a brill atmosphere. We had a short break and then played another set as they had their deserts, we ended with some upbeat numbers like “Get Lucky” Daft Punk & “Use Somebody” Kings Of Leon and we also played “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls as Wend had said this was her all time favorite song! so we couldn’t not add it in.
The guests began to leave so the Staff could get the room ready for their evening and we packed down our equipment, it really was a fab day! and we enjoyed every part of it.
Thank you so much for having us play at your wedding Dave & Wendy! you can find their feedback on our testimonials page and below are some photographs that the wonderful Nicola Gough took of us at the wedding, you can check her out @
Big Huge congratulations to the lovely Dave & Wendy, wishing you many years of happiness.
